Dear Dr. Smith,

During the spring semester, it is my goal to earn an B in CODE123. I have outlined my goals, how I plan to achieve them, and how I will demonstrate my progress.

Based on 3C, I will be able to consider and apply various ethical concepts to questions and consider their full effect given the situation. (10%)

My goal is that to be able to analyze the different aspects of a question and make informed decisions regarding it while considering what the different ethical concerns may be surrounding the question and research, and how that plays into our work.

Based on 5A, I will be able to define the scope of research questions effectively and select information cogently to express them. (15%)

I want to be clear about what I am trying to find in my research and to tie into that, it is important that I am able to choose which information and data is the most relevant so I can explain my research questions well.

Based on 10C, I will be able to accurately support my arguments and draw logical conclusions using quantitative information.

Using various methods of finding information for my research, I will be able to illustrate quantitative data and use it to pull accurate conclusions that can support my research and arguments. I will make and demonstrate my progress towards this goal highlighting data and what it relates to in my research, and highlighting my reasoning and how I made the conclusions I did using the data.

Based on 4C, I will be able to address complex and global problems using interdisciplinary perspectives by applying knowledge and skills to implement sophisticated, workable solutions.

It is my goal to be able to utilize information and knowledge that I have of different fields, experiences, and systems that are used in different places to develop appropriate actions that will help create solutions. I will demonstrate this in my e-portfolio through work such as, highlighted information in readings that I can use or by pointing out connections and how they help develop and think about solutions.

Based on 11A, I will be able to evaluate a texts’ scholarly significance to apply readings to other contexts or issues.

As someone whose area of study is history, and as someone finds American history specifically interesting, I find a lot of overlap between my CODES coursework and my other classes. I would love to work on how I can connect readings and research I do outside of CODES (and readings from CODES of course) to different problems, as well as, how they apply to different areas. I will demonstrate this on my e-portfolio by including information and readings that I find useful, showing how I applied them to different contexts, and emphasizing what ways they have helped in my research.
