Reflection #3

What is the process of giving and receiving feedback like for you? What can you do to give better feedback and improve how you engage with the feedback you receive from others?

The process of giving and receiving feedback for me I think is simple. The process of giving feedback on my end relies on clear communication, comfortability, and set rules or roles. When giving feedback I try to stay aware of my tone and delivery. I think this is important due to me working with six other young adults. It is not about what you say , but how you say it. I also try to make sure I fully understand what I am doing on my part so I can effectively help , guide , and communicate to my colleagues. Feedback is an essential step of teamwork and research so it is important that my team and I stay on top of it. However, making sure your team is comfortable with getting points across on their end is important too.  It is important with feedback to allow my colleagues to feel heard and appreciated but I think my team personally just struggles with motivation. With feedback comes timely communication and that is a skill my team needs to try to fix.

However , something I can do to give better feedback is being honest and providing feedback ahead of time instead of letting issues pile up. This will allow the load of the collaboration to be better and my patience to stay at a good level with my team members.

The way I engage with feedback from others is okay. I think I am not able to engage with it as much as I would like because I am usually the one giving all the feedback and not receiving it. I would like to make a change with this in the future. When receiving feedback I take it in but I think I could do a better job of implementing it more in my work.
