First-Week Introduction
One of my major goals is to adopt a variety of perspectives, not just in my E-portfolio, but in my day-to-day life, because my issue is that I tend to think my perspective is the only one that is feasible and true. And I hope to change that through multiple sources and multiple perspectives. One assignment that is most exciting for me, but also my most challenging, is the Water Fair idea, its exciting to me because it allows me to get out into the world, but for the same reason its scary to me because of social interactions especially with something as impressionable as the youth and education. I hope to try and maintain a cool head throughout and communicate consistently.
Midterm Introduction
One thing I am really enjoying is the preparation for the Water Fair. It’s been really enjoyable to seek out topics, getting in touch with JJK, and people in general like my water filtration idea. I’m also excited for the water fair itself because I heard a rumor that there are going to be some important people there, so this is an experience. One thing I also feel like I am doing well is socializing and communicating with people, but I do still think I can do ever better at talking to people and I will make an effort to actually reach out to people to carry out intelligent conversation.
Final Introduction
One thing that I loved was the Water Fair itself, and how my group and I were able to successfully create the Water Fair from the simple idea we received when we were all freshmen. I feel I met these goals with flying colors, and I have developed a closer bond with my friends in the CODES Program. One thing that helped me through this course was to not close myself off, and to get out and talk to people, and that’s somthing I want to take with me, not just for the rest of my school career, but for the rest of my life.
Course Goals
Choose five goals from the CODES Student Learning Outcomes that you’d like to work toward. Choose goals that are relevant to the scope of this course, select artifacts/examples based on activities assigned for this course, and explain characteristics in a way that illustrates how your artifacts/examples demonstrate your progress toward the goal.
Goal 1 (20%)
Based on 11B, I will study texts across multiple genres, and relating them all to each other through my main Goal
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| I will compile my readings, lessons, and sources as it relates to my idea | Compiled Lessons/ Compiled Readings/ Zotero Lists Reflection | I have a better understanding of a topic not from just one source alone |
One way I feel I was able to achieve this goal is through my compiled lessons in my annotated bibliography. It helped me take notes from a number of places and consolidate my thoughts.
Another way I achieved this goal is through my reflections. In which I used my personal thoughts on how my project was going and brought them together through the reflections.
Goal 2 (20%)
Based on 7A, I will explore a topic in depth, producing knowledge and information indicating interest in the subject.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| Use my assignments to show that I indeed have interest in a particular topic | Reflections x4 | I have a personal connection with the topic, and thats reflecyed in the reflections |
One way I’ve been able to achieve this goal is through my current reflections. I was able to explore the reflection prompts in depth, showing my interest in the given subject.
Goal 3 (20%)
Based on 8A, I will use clear organization and present content skillfully.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| I will use a difined beginning middle and end model for my assignments | Organize Product/ Organize Mid-point Data/ Organized Zotero List Reflections | My assignments arent scrambled in large part that my data isnt scrambled |
One way I was able to achieve this goal is through the Midpoint Data, which I am assuming is the annotated bibliography. In which I presented all my sources in a descending order which I detailing their usefulness.
Another way I achived this goal was through my Final Presentation, or rather the Product, in which my group members all consolidated our water fair experiences in an order of those who did the water fair and those who did interviews/made the toolkit.
One final way I achieved this was through my reflections, in which I had a defined way of detailing how I organized my thoughts, mostly by separating them into paragraphs.
Goal 4 (20%)
Based on 11A, I will evaluate the significance of texts to apply reading to other contexts or issues.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| For my project, I will use multiple sources of multiple mediums | Reflection Annotated Bibliography Youtube Videos based on Water filtrations | My water fair ptoject I hope can be quite fun because of all the sources i used |
One way I was able to achieve this goal is through my annotated bibliography. In which I compiled all my reasarch ideas and lesson plans in the Documennt.
Another way is through my reflections. In which I combined my thoughts on the particular prompt and I typed it into the refllection.
Finally, I evaluated a number of YouTube video sources. I appreciated the short form videos as I didnt need to read through an article.
Goal 5 (20%)
Based on 2C, I will transform ideas through synthesizing knowledge from multiple domains.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| Similar to the last one, I will take knowlegde from muliple sources | Reflections Presentations Water Fair Implementation plans | My projects will be well rounded from a number of sources |
One way I was able to achieve this goal is through my Reflections. In which I used my own memories and my experiences to create a cohesive display of my knowledge.
One more way is through my implementation plans! In which me and my group members took all of our research and Ideas for our project and turn it into a tangible plan for the water fair.
