First-Week Introduction

One thing I am most excited about for this semester is that I am essentially a rising junior in college, and my research team and lecture have seemingly been combined, which means this is a new stage in the CODES Program. I am mostly excited about the prospect of being able to make actual changes in the community. One thing I am afraid of most, however, is that being an elder CODES Member and being a step away from being Juniors, is the increased responsibility and having a larger workload, but this is a rather minor fear as I have had a bit of experience under my belt and that makes me less afraid.

Midterm Introduction

Something that my group mates and I are doing is that we are creating a blog post of sorts to summarize our major project, the Water Fair. This is being done to essentially simplify our projects into somthing the average person (such as a science teacher, or a college student doing research outside of CODES) can understand. This is being done to ensure that our time in the CODES program leaves a legacy and that our work can be used for future generations of students. This, in my opinion, is a great honor to do as we are very close to being juniors and eventually seniors, which means we will be looked up to by future CODES cohorts and I am excited to see how this project will evolve.

Final Introduction

As my time in CODES comes to an end, somthing I think I have achieved this semester was essentially learning how to end something on a high note. I have had a tumultuous time in CODES, balancing it with College work, as well as my original group falling apart, and finding a new place in the one I am currently in. I was able to find the good in a stressful situation, and I gained the ability to adapt when things don’t go as planned, and I made great friends out of it as well, and while there were some bumps, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Goal 1 (10%)
Based on 8A,  I will use clear pattern organization in order to present my content in a meaningful way.

-Emplace Revisions

Evidence for Goal 1

I achieved this goal through my Emplace Revisions, in which I decided to consolidate all my information on my project into a place I or someone else could use as a reference. I also organized my specific portion of the Water Fair in its own place.

Goal 2 (40%)
Based on 12C,  I will not be a burden to my group members and turn in my assignments on time.

-Group Projects

-I submit my portion of the group project on time

-Activley Participating in Group Work

-Emplace Revisions

-Actively Participating in community partner visits/calls

Evidence for Goal 2

One way I was able to achieve this goal was mostly through the group-based projects. I always submitted my portion of the group project on time, participated in the community partner video calls, and actively contributed to group work sessions, such as our original idea for the “Blog Post”. I was also able to achieve this through the Emplace Revisions.

Goal 3 (20%)
Based on 9B,  I will find and identify multiple solutions to a given problem.

-Reflections

Evidence for Goal 3

I achieved this goal through my reflections, particularly Reflections 3 and 5, where I came to terms with my issues receiving criticism and found ways to cope, and through my final reflection, in which I reflected on the problems I overcame during my time in CODES.

Goal 4 (20%)
Based on 11C, I will use appropriate expectations and lenses when I read and apply them to my work.

-Reflection 1

-Reflection 2

Evidence for Goal 4

I achieved this goal throughmy reflections in which I used the given prompt and had consolidated it into a tangible reflection and I can explain how they relate to the given prompt.

Goal 5 (10%)
Based on 13A, I will use content that is relevant and compelling to demonstrate mastery of the subject, to portray my understanding.

-Active Participation in Writing Workshops

Evidence for Goal 5

I achieved this goal through actively participating in writing workshops, in which I used class time during the workshops when I would work on a particular assignments as well, one of which being the Blog Post Idea.
