Dear Dr. Aranda,

In my CODES 220 class, I am striving for an A and the following learning outcomes will reflect how I plan on achieving this grade.

1) Civic Engagement (15%).

  • Collaboration and understanding within and outside of your own realm to extend what information is shared is crucial. Also making sure that information is accurate and being open to feedback from the community makes for a smooth connection with those partners where a strong bond is needed. I plan on showcasing my pre and post questions and notes from meeting with the community partners at the Missouri Botanical Garden in my portfolio to show I understand this learning outcome.

4) Global Learning (20%).

I plan on coming to class prepared and reading all materials prior to coming to class to effectively and mindfully adding my thoughts to class discussions. I also plan on engaging in all class discussions with information that I have found on global issues. In my portfolio, I plan on showing this by uploading my reflections to show my insight on these issues.

5) Information Literacy (30%).

Based on this learning outcome I plan to work on being able to show my progress in how to effectively write with the resources I find using books, assignments, or the internet. I also plan to show how I analyze evidence in the sources I am able to attain. In my portfolio, I am going to show this in my bibliographies when needed as well as in my reflections. I will be graded on this based on how well my reflections are and how correct my bibliographies are.

9) Problem-Solving Skills (10%).

This CODES class is definitely different from any of the other classes I have had to take within the CODES program so far since there are exams. My problem solving skills will be a work in progress and I plan on showing my improvement with my exam scores. I will receive an 80% or higher on each exam to achieve this outcome.

10) Quantitative Literacy (25%).

The assignments in this class pertain to being able to effectively analyze data, and also different forms of data for the research report. There are multiple aspects to analyzing data. One of the main parts is being able to identify a good and trusted source. The second important aspect is being able to use the information from the graph to evaluate questions and drawing conclusions. I will showcase my improvement on this outcome by scoring “excellent” on my rubric for the proposed experiment.

Sincerely,

Kadynce Sanders
