Introduction
During first semester in CODES, I feel as though, I have really exceeded at my goals. I feel like I am being challenged as a writer and am being pushed to grow. I like the overall idea of contract grading, but have learned that I typically do better with a more structured grading scale.
5A: Defines the scope of research questions effectively and selects information cogently to address them. (15%)
In my words, this means that I will be able to know what questions mean and be able to dive deeper in them. I will demonstrate this in our source analysis. I will dive deep when analyzing new articles. This portion will be worth 15% of my grade. I feel as though I struggle with really comprehending deep subjects, so I would like to improve this skill.

Above is an example of how I have demonstrated this. Within my source analysis 4, I dove deep into both of the articles.
7 A: Explores a topic in depth, yielding a rich awareness and/or little-known information indicating intense interest in the subject. (15%)
In my words, this means that I will try to research topics in order to fully understand them. I will demonstrate this in our multimodal compositions. I will demonstrate a strong knowledge in the topics. This portion will be worth 15% of my grade. I believe I am fairly good at this. I would like to still improve on my analysis skills, but overall I am fairly confident.
During MC #1, I had to research a lot about wicked problems and the Missouri Botanical Gardens in order for me to do the MC.
9B: Identifies and evaluates multiple approaches for solving problems. This means that I will try to solve problems from different angles. (15%)
I will demonstrate these during class discussions, or when trying to pick out new articles/evidence that we can use to help solve our problems. This percentage will be worth 15% of my grade. I feel as though I tend to struggle to think outside the box, so this is a skill I would like to improve on.
To demonstrate this skill, I had found the article below online that we will use for a future source analysis.

10 A: Skillfully represents quantitative information. This means I will be able to show numerical data. (20%)
I will demonstrate this by making charts and/or graphs when we are using numerical data. Also, taking numerical data notes when we visit the garden (if necessary). This section will be worth 20% of my grade. I am very good at this skill, it is very comfortable for me to work with numerical data and creating graphs and charts.
So far, we have not had to work with too much numerical data. However, I did make several charts, in order to show our information.

12 C: Works independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines. (35%)
In a group setting, I will do the work I need to do on time in order for the group to succeed. I will demonstrate this when we are working in groups, whether it be in class, or in smaller groups within our research team. This section will be worth 35% of my grade. I am very good at this. I will always get things done before the deadline and I will try my best in a group setting to succeed.
So far in our research team, I have turned in all of my assignments on time. Here are two examples:
