When I was interviewing someone, I did not like it. It felt too formal and weird for me. I did not feel comfortable, but I acted like I was in order to make the interview go as smoothly as possible. I did not like to read the introduction to the survey. Additionally, I do not like asking people questions, so this made me go a little out of my comfort zone. I think most of my questions were worded very well. However, I could have been more detailed when I asked my interviewee about their major and I said “why did you choose it?”. I could have asked, “what made you want to decide to go into your selected major, if you have multiple reasons why, please state them all.” It could have given me more information about the interviewee and how they connect with their major choice. I feel as though I did a pretty good job crafting my questions. They seemed to be very clear and easy to understand for my interviewee. She responded very quickly and could understand what I was asking her. When I was transcribing the interview. I did not like listening to my voice on the recording. I recorded the interview then transcribed it afterwards because my interviewee was in a hurry. I do not think I would like to interview more people because overall this was not the best experience for me. I feel as though I would feel more comfortable being interviewed because I wouldn’t feel like I would have to act a certain way during the process. Within my interview, I did not want to sound unprofessional, or overly confident in order to help my interviewee feel the most comfortable she could. Overall, interviewing someone was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
