I have to admit I was a little nervous about coming into my first year at a university. In the past I have had issues with time management and putting what I needed to do aside for extracurricular activities. Don’t get me wrong I always maintained good grades in school, but I always knew in the back of my head knew that I could do better. I was afraid that the freedom of living on campus and by myself would hurt me by distracting me with everything to do except schoolwork. Before university I had what almost seemed like an addiction to procrastination. I procrastinated in my personal life and school. There were days where I would be sleep deprived because I had spent all night writing a multi-page essay that was assigned a month ago, but I waited until the last day to do it. Now that I am done with my first semester, I can comfortably say that I know I will be fine. I have improved drastically with time management over the past 5 months of me being on campus and it has made life a lot easier for me. I’m closing in on a 4.0 GPA as the semester ends and I’ve also had time to have fun and be mostly stress-free outside of school too.

This is a picture of my google calendar from a random Monday in October. To most people there is nothing special about having a calendar but for me it is special because it shows the personal growth and maturity that I have gained through my first year of college. Before college I thought that using planners weren’t necessary and didn’t see a need to write down what I was going to do throughout a day. Using planners has helped me stay on track of everything I do in life, and I almost never have had to go through the stress of having to do things last minute since I started using a planner.
