Dear Dr. Smith
To secure an A in this course, I have outlined the objectives I aim to accomplish during the upcoming semester and outlined the strategies I will implement to demonstrate my advancements towards these goals.
(3c.)- Applies ethical concepts to a question and considers their full implications. (20%)
The first goal I have chosen is to apply ethical concepts to a question and considers their full implications. I think this goal will be helpful in perspective to my personal overarching goal which is to better understand how the community fits into the Missouri Botanical Gardens and how it effects the Gardens themself. I want to show this in the survey questions we start out with and the actual analytics of the surveys themself after we send them out to the community around the Gardens.
(5b.) Accesses information using effective, well-designed search strategies and appropriate sources. (20%)
My second goal I have chosen for this semester is 5b. Since this is research and thinking class, mixed with a humanities class, I think it is important to check all sources. With that being said, I believe we need well designed strategies in our search strategies as well I plan on showing this goal in my portfolio by documenting my information I find for our research and using some of my sources at artifacts as well.
(9b.) Constructs insightful problem statements with evidence of relevant factors. (20%)
The third goal I have chosen for this specific course is 9b. The goal of constructing problem solving ideas have been a struggle. But it is something I would like to continue to work on as I get more assignments and have time as the semester goes on. I would like to show this goal off when collaborating our surveys and our research questions.
(10a.) Skillfully represents quantitative information. (20%)
As a student in a CODEs, we get a lot of information thrown at us, so I would like to get better at representing that information into other recourses. I would like to show this in my writing applying each piece of information that i get in class and transforming that into my work in class.
(12c.) Works independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines. (20%)
Though collaboration will be a very important skill I would like to get better at self-work is almost just as important as collaboration. Even in collaboration you still need to do your personal work. Instead of other people holing me account for deadlines I plan on holding myself to these deadlines and work efficiently to work to that even in group projects. I plan on showing this goal in my work through my writing and showing the resources I find when researching for class as well.
