Hi! My name is Nicholas Muppidi-Fowler, and this is my eportfolio!
I graduated in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies, and minors in Social Science Education, Pre-Law, Asian Studies, and Spanish from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I was part of the first cohort of the Community-Oriented Digital Engagement Scholars (CODES) program. My research team collaborated with the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center (NGRREC) on various projects focused on community science, outreach, and education.
This year, I became the first student in SIUE’s history to be selected for the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship – and I have now received it twice. The first award, in 2025, selected me from a pool of over 5,000 applicants nationally. The second, in 2026, selected me from over 4,500 applicants and placed me at the Arab American Language Institute in Tangier, Morocco.
I hail from Madison County, IL, having grown up in Granite City and Collinsville. I graduated from Collinsville High School in the Class of 2022. My hobbies include playing guitar, writing, language learning, nature exploration, and discovering new aspects of history.
