My Goals

Major: I plan on Majoring in History and with International Studies. I like being able to understand the world, and History gives me the best ability to do so.

Career interests: I plan on teaching in secondary education for several years after graduating. I hope to pursue my Master’s and Doctorate in Historical Studies and teach/conduct research at the university level.

Courses Completed:

SOC 111: Intro to Sociology – This was my first 3-credit hour class at SIUE, and I loved learning the topics of Soc! Stygar was a fantastic teacher.

HIST 130B: History of Black America 1865-present – this was my first history class at SIUE, and the course allowed me to do independent study on a commonly ignored part of American history.

POLS 112: American Government – Dr. Rice taught this class very well and educated me on a lot of the processes of government.

GEOG 201: World Regions – Nice recap! Hume was lovely!

CODE 120: Research Team 1: It’s like The Office but less productive.

CODE 121: Transdisciplinary Communication – To be honest, I hated class when taking it, but Dr. Despain was such a great professor, and I value the skills and info I picked up in this class.

ANTH 111B: Human Culture and Comm. – Taught me how NOT to make a powerpoint presentation. C’mon Dr. Huddeston, I paid $1.2k for this course!

HIST 112B: World Hist. 1500-present – Dr. Tamari is the best teacher I’ve met so far in my life. This course made me a fan of Ted Kaczynski (joke).

GEOG 210: Physical Geog. – Topics were a bit complex, but Dr. Shaw was too kind!

CODE 122: Research Team 2 – Great year, got an internship. Tad bit more productive.

CODE 123: Research and Systems Thinking – Msengi was too kind! (Did we get to the System Thinking part of it??)

ECON 111: Macroeconomics – Dr. Petit comes off as such a warlord but actually taught me a lot on a subject I didn’t expect to care about.

Future Courses: HIST 112A: Prehistory-1500, HIST 200; American Const. to 1877, HIST 471: Community Digital Engagement with History, HIST 212B: History of the Modern Middle East, POLS 370: International Relations, CODE 220: Community Engagement with Science
