Within my first semester being at SIUE has come with its ups and downs. Being a part of CODES and being a criminal justice major has taught me a lot of things and every day of it has been worth it. My experience so far has given me the ability to grow better intellectual skills while also trying new things and building new relationships. Throughout this journey I developed new skills and also learned how to step out and try new things.
My proudest accomplishment is Digital Project #3: Collaborative Counter Mapping. This assignment helped me develop my literature skills and research skills. I learned how to better my collaboration skills and respectfully work as a team with others. This project let me discover the history behind The Mississippi River and the American southern bottom. Counter Mapping and focusing on these certain locations helped shape my view of the history behind the river and what truly happens along these different locations.

As the semester goes on and I continue to be a part of CODES I hope to gain more experience in different areas and develop skills that will continue to help me strive.
