First-Week Introduction
I chose these five goals because they challenge me to strengthen my current skills and learn new skills that will benefit me in my future career. I’m excited about the final project this semester since it’s different from the typical ones I’m used to. Therefore, I’m excited about this new experience and gaining more knowledge from these assignments, which may be more challenging and comprehensive. Still, I would gain a deeper understanding from them. A primary goal I am working towards is better time management because I’ve learned that time is the key to studying efficiently.
Midterm Introduction
The amount of learning opportunities has been endless and has immensely helped me throughout all of my classes’ projects and assignments. I’ve learned a lot about effective research and used it daily while finding sources for our project. I liked looking around for resources and finding out which was most reliable because I would learn so much by just reading through the sources, and I found them very interesting. Finding the “perfect” lesson plan has not been easy, but I learned so many things while going into each of my sources in depth. The resources I have learned so far are essential not just in this class, but for my future career.
Final Introduction
Reflecting on this past semester I learned a great amount of skills in this class. I have achieved all of my goals that I set for this semester, and I worked very hard to get to this point. These goals and new skills will help me through out college, in my future classes, internships, and jobs. I enjoyed all of the new experiences and challenges I encountered this semester and this will help me for the next two and a half years, medical school, and my future career. I will miss being in class with Dr. Martinez, she helped me a tremendous amount the entire way of my project; and was always very understanding, and overall an amazing professor. Conducting a lesson at the water fair was a great experience, I gained new knowledge regarding water conservation and youth education. I can’t wait to continue working on this topic next semester!
Course Goals
Goal 1 (20%)
Based on 9a, construct insightful problem statements with evidence of relevant factors.: Create an insightful problem statement supported by appropriate evidence.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| -Participate and prepare for class discussions -Referring to old assignments when receiving new feedback. -Take notes during lectures | -Reflections -Class Discussions -Site Visits/Meetings -Notes | -I will refer to past assignments to solve new problems -I will research topics beforehand that I can use as evidence |

This is a screenshot of notes from our virtual meeting over teams. Taking notes during the meeting helped myself and my group while we wrote our implementation plan.

While I wrote reflection 2, I referred back to the implementation plan and reflection 1.

These are meeting notes that my group and I have while we met with Zach. These notes gave us a better idea on what to takeaway from our meeting, and helped us progress our project.

This is a screenshot of my reflection 3 where I talk about the lesson I ultimately chose, and I went back to my list of possible lesson plans to figure out which one would be the best to conduct at the water fair.
Goal 2 (20%)
Based on 5b Accesses information using effective, well-designed search strategies and appropriate sources.: Using past research techniques to find effective information.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| This will help me practice current and new skills to become an effective researcher | -Reflections -Final presentation Brainstorming -Collecting Data with group -Researching question ideas | I will have credible and effective research |

In reflection 3 I used my previous reflections as well as my research sources to help me decide which lesson plan was best.

We shared various opinions and ideas that we all researched to come up with our overarching research question.

This is a screenshot of my group members and I combining our research into one document. Combining our research and giving edits on each others sections helped make sure my sources and research was credible.

Here is a screenshot of when I was brainstorming for my presentation slides. Brainstorming helped me identify what information I needed to include and planning out the purpose of my slides.
Goal 3 (20%)
Based on 12c, works independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines: meets deadlines and contributes productively while working independently toward goals
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| -Start assignments early and don’t wait until the last minute. -Asking questions early on | -Reflections -Process Description -Final Presentation Outline -Research -Prepping questions in advance | -I will use class time wisely. -I will turn in assignments on time |

This shows all of my work turned in on time into my e-portfolio.

This shows my sources I used to help me find a lesson plan so I could receive feedback and start my next step as soon as possible.

Here is my process description, I worked independently toward my goal by consistently meeting deadlines and completing each part of the project on time; and I asked Dr. Martinez to give me some feedback to perfect my assignment.

Here I have our meeting notes and questions we prepared in advance to ask Zach. This helped us make sure we stayed on top of everything, and made sure all questions were answered so we could continue working in the right direction.
Goal 4 (20%)

This is a screenshot of texts from my group planning to meet so we can be on track in and out of class. Meetings/ check ins are extremely helpful because they give team members the opportunity to ask for help and feedback.

I finished my assignments before the end of class and I sent it to Dr. Martinez for feedback.

Dr. Martinez provided me with feedback for my process description, which aided in creating more depth into my writing.

This is our group powerpoint for our presentation where we gave each other group edits. We each did our part on time which is why we all felt very confident while we practiced presenting.

| -Actively take notes in class to refer to them while working on assignments -Use research in my brainstorming and presentations | -Reflections -Final Presentation -Interacting with students -Meeting notes | -I will use knowledge from past assignments towards new ones -I will use brainstorming topics in my drafts. |

Here are more of my meeting notes, I ended up using these in my reflections and while researching sources.

I used reference knowledge from the past 2 reflections to create this one, I also used my process description and my meeting notes.

Here are my meeting notes which I referred to these a lot throughout my reflections and while researching lessons to conduct at the water fair.

Here are my notes for my final presentation that helped me write my flashcards to help me present.
