Introduction
Sem 1, prt 1: During the creation of this portfolio it feels like I have learned a lot. In such a short time of being in college. I think so far what I have most enjoyed was getting to do fun things with my fellow classmates. I have struggled with fully understanding this program, but it is a learning process and I have only been in college for 2 months. So far I think I have excelled in meeting is reading texts to get a better idea on what I need to know. I want to continue learning how to properly do what is required of me as I am unsure what I need to do. But I am figuring it out and learning along the way.
Sem 1, prt 2: 2nd part of this semester, I think I learned a bit more about what I’m supposed to be doing. What I most enjoyed was having the opportunity to interact more with the people I am going to be spending a lot of time with. As we are now at the end of this semester I am getting better at understanding it, but am still struggling with what I am supposed to do. I think I excelled in getting my work done on time, and making sure it is the best it can be. I want to continue in learning more about this project, to see how far we an go with it.
Goal 1 (20%)
8 a) Use clear wording and organization in a skilled way to present cohesively. I chose this goal because I am not the greatest at presenting and I tend to stumble over and forget words and what I am presenting in the first place.
This presentation, helped my learning by pushing me out of the loner zone I have put myself it. It also helped my presentation skill by allowing my to collaborate with others. As this presentation was silly but shows how I can work together with others. This helped me develop this skill of communication, since getting the pictures we needed wasn’t the easiest. Perhaps what might be done differently is picking a more serious topic. It was fun but the way we had to do it could have been better.
Our map, helped my learning by working with people who didn’t really want to work together. It helped my presentation skills a bit, by having me present on something as big as tower grove. This helped my communication skills because, I had to step up and tell my groupmates what to do to even get started. I also still struggled a little bit to present in the beginning but, after my first slide I did better with talking. Something I might have done differently is becoming the leader sooner. Mainly because our communication issue could have been resolved sooner. If we all agreed what we were gonna work on individually at the beginning.
Goal 2 (20%)
11 a) Read the texts provided and evaluate their significance to compare what you are reading to other issues and problems; I chose this because you always need to check what you are reading and see how it relates to the problems you are attempting to solve.
This demonstrates my learning by showing how much progress I made even between just 2 reflections. This helped me develop the skill of analyzing text and being able to summarize what I had read. I might just continue with the flow of the reflections, as they seem to be getting better with each one. So currently I don’t think I will do anything differently for now.
This demonstrates my learning by showing how much I have learned over this semester. As this is the my best reflection currently. This helped me develop my skill by allowing me to relate the text to real problems. While also letting me come up with ideas that I think will help our project. I think that with each reflection I am improving with my analysis. So I might change the sturcture a bit more but otherwise I think I do better with each reflection.
Goal 3 (20%)
12 a) Work with others to create successful ideas without issues and share ideas as a group. I chose this because it is good to work together and sometimes people do not agree completely so it is great to cooperate with others and let everyone have their own ideas come through.
This demonstrates my ability to communicate. It might not be the best but I didn’t grab any screenshots from the “Geese” group chat. This helped me learn how to work with power point, as I had only known how to use slides before. Perhaps making a group chat earlier. I didn’t think of it at the time and most of our communication for this project was verbal.
This demonstrates my communication skills with others. As we weren’t really getting anywhere with this project in the beginning. This originally didn’t work as there was nothing done a week later. however closer to the due date of this project most of us were able to make the map. Without any bigger issues and we did talk a lot in class on everything we wanted to add and share in the map. I think what would have resolved this issue from the beginning. Would probably deciding who was going to do what, instead of just waiting till the last minute and speeding through it.
Goal 4 (20%)
9 b) Look at every possible solution and evaluate the ways to solve problems. I chose this because I need to make sure I produce the best solution for the problem that I have so I know that the problem will be solved well and efficiently.
This essay, demonstrates my learning because there is still a lot I need to learn about writing essays. I am not great at writing and it shows in this essay and everything else I write. This helped me develop the ability to accept others advice when it comes to making corrections. It kind of pushed me to do something new by writing about myself in an essay format. I might choose a different topic next time, I couldn’t think of one when writing so I just went with one of the example ideas.
This reflection, demonstrates my assessment skills. As my group for DP#3 which was the reason for this reflection. Had a lot of ups and downs during the entirety of this project. So the problem was there wasn’t much communication, so the solution was to come up with a plan. As this was a group project and 1 person could not do the work of 5. So I decided to do the biggest part of this project by making the map and asking my groupmates to send me documents that they wanted in the slides. This helped me develop problem solving skills by, taking the bigger part of the work to let the other people not stress as much. Currently I think that my solution was good for this project. So I don’t think anything needs to be different currently.

13 a) present a in depth understanding of context, audience, and purpose, I chose this because to be successful in successfully finding a solution you need to understand everything about it and who might be looking into it
This video, is the closest I have to presenting at this time. It demonstrates my learning by showing how I understand how to talk in a video. Whilst using my understanding of rhetoric analysis. It helped me develop the skill of learning how to problem solve. As during the editing process, I went through 2 or 3 editing programs before getting one that I could use without issue. I might just resort to what I know instead of doing what is suggested. The suggested editing program was difficult to get anything done.
The map, was the final presentation that we did in class. This demonstrates my learning by showing my research into Tower Grove. While also showing how I can work with a group of people to complete a project. This helped me learn the skill of teamwork and leadership. As during the process of working on this project there were unexpected communication issues. So next time I work with people I think I am going to attempt to find what the problem is. When it is not so close to the deadline, because that was not a good idea on any of our parts.
