This slideshow summarized the scope of the research question because it demonstrated my understanding of water-conservation education exposure for elementary-aged students. Focusing on the gap in youth education on water sustainability practices, I was able to select sources that examine overarching findings and themes. Ultimately, the resources that I chose allowed me to effectively define the research as it regards all factors, solutions, and implications.

This excerpt demonstrates my thinking process, and I analyzed research studies. Exploring Water Conservation Awareness Level Among Primary School Children From Meleka (Malaysia)” was the article that I chose to write about because it focuses on whether K-8 students apply water conservation knowledge in their community and at home. In conclusion, this illustrates my ability to access the information in the paper effectively as it regards understanding the scope of research.

My research question focuses on if K-8 students apply water conservation strategies at home. It can be said that the sources that I selected relate to the scope of my research because they each investigate different concepts of water literacy. For example, some of these articles examined the effort to implement water conservation education in schools, while some were measuring the outcomes after students received water conservation education. By creating a citation sheet, I was able to choose research that aligned with my focus. Along with this, I filter the articles by annotating them from Adobe PDF. Then, I was able to gauge which articles would provide effective evidence for what I’m to define. In summary, I was able to access information by annotating articles that fit my focus.

My research question and keywords illustrate that I was intentional and organized when completing this part of the assignment. Moreover, this shows that I have curated and refined the proposed research question, hypotheses, and keywords during the learning session outside of class. With the help of Dr. Lee, I was able to dive further into this question by explaining the specific practices that children do, such as turning the water off. Ultimately, this example shows how intentional I am in curating a testable question as it regards defining the scope of our research.

This article demonstrates that I clearly defined the scope of my research because it effectively explains the main issue that I’m studying.
