First-Week Introduction
This semester, I chose goals that complies with our three main assignments in this course. I hope these goals allow me to expand my knowledge and continue to work on my mini project and work in a group. To start off, I chose goal 13a which states demonstrating a thorough understanding of context, audience and purpose. This goal will allow me to work on understanding my group members point of view and show them that I am listening to them and make them feel like they are being heard. The second goal I chose was 12c which indicates working independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines. I chose this goal mainly for my small project I did last semester. I would like to continue to work on it individually to enhance it more so I can later come together with my group and show them what I’ve been working on. Third goal is 3b which recognizes multilayered ethical issues and the cross-relationships among them. This goal will allow me and my group to recognize certain issues and help us come together to resolve them. For my fourth goal, I chose was 6c which suspends judgment in interactions with people culturally different than themselves. I feel as if this is an important quality needed to work in a group which is why I picked to work on this goal for this semester. Last goal I chose is 5a which defines the scope of research questions effectively and selects information cogently to address them. I could honestly talk about this goal all day! This goal has so much to do with CODES especially because we have been working on a research question since freshman year. I feel like this goal will allow us to expand our research more and help us get a better understand on how we can change the youth opinion on conservation. I’m most excited to work on our final project so we can show our progress and our updates! I’m ready for all assignments. Strategies I’m forcing on myself will be communication skills and time management.

Course Goals T
Choose five goals from the CODES Student Learning Outcomes that you’d like to work toward. Choose goals that are relevant to the scope of this course, select artifacts/examples based on activities assigned for this course, and explain characteristics in a way that illustrates how your artifacts/examples demonstrate your progress toward the goal.
Goal 1 (20%)
Based on 13a: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of context, audience, and purpose
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
| I willl start by studying communication theories. Studying audience analysis, and communication strategies can also be super helpful. I will also try rewriting existing content for different audiences or purposes. | -Reflections -Final project | -Active listening skills -Participation skills -Empathy skills |
[For each 5% of effort you assign to your goal, provide at at least one example or artifact that demonstrates your learning process and shows how your made progress toward meeting that goal this semester (You would need four examples if the goal was worth 20% of your grade). Show how you have improved over time, what methods you took to grow, and talk about what you still plan to do in the future.
Goal 2 (20%)
Based on 12c: Works independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines.
| What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |

These scenarios can be discussed with other people to obtain different perspectives. | -Reflections -Final project | -Ethinical skills -Active listening skills – Being open minded |
