First-Week Introduction
I chose these five goals to overcome, because I personally believe these goals will help me become a better person and a better student. To start off, I chose 13c which indicates “I will use language to skillfully communicate with clarity and fluency. This goal is very important while working with others because it is always important to be clear and innovative and being mindful of others while working in a group. I chose 8b, which states, “Uses compelling, appropriate delivery techniques”. This goal is by far the most important to me because it is very important to treat others how you would want to be treated. Respect is given when its earned, so I just start everyone on a clean slate. Goal 2b states “I will strive to build upon my contributions and notice when someone is not participating and inviting them to engage”. I feel as this goal is by far the most important one to keep in mind especially while being in CODES. We do nothing but group work and we should all keep in mind that our own individual part can take a big toll on others as well. Just being mindful in general is a great key factor. The last goal I chose is 1a “I will demonstrate ability and commitment to collaboratively work across and within community contexts and structures”. This goal goes along with goal 2b. Again, collaborative work may be hard to deal with for others but it’s by far the easiest for me. Some strategies I want to set for myself to make this semester a success is staying on top of my work and never give up no matter how hard I feel it gets.
Midterm Introduction
I feel like I’ve been doing a really great job with meeting my goals. I tend to procrastinate a lot which doesn’t make my life any easier especially when it comes to school, however, I’ve been doing a good job keeping up with my work in this class. As far as attendance, I have yet to miss a day which I am completely proud of myself for. The fact that this class is in the afternoon makes it so much easier for me to get up and go to school. I genuinely enjoy the aspects of this class in the long run, I guess you can say that’s why it’s so easy for me to get up and attend the class. The assignments for this class aren’t difficult to do. They’re straight forward and self-explanatory for the most part. Some strategies I can use to continue developing my goals will be communicating more. It is always important to let your professors know what is always going on. Seek help when needed is the biggest one. Asking for assistance can make a big difference. I definitely would like to start using my planner more often to become more organized and stay on top of my work.
Final Introduction
[Now that the semester is over, use your introduction to reflect in-depth on your process. How well did you meet the goals you set out to meet? What did you learn that surprised you? Focusing on your goals for this class, what do you want to remember to take with you into your future courses? What strategies can you use to continue developing toward these goals?]
