I was able to work on some of these goals this semester. I didn’t hit fully on all of them, only some was I focused on during this first half of the second semester. I most enjoyed being in smaller groups working on different interviews. I struggled with making sure that I was prepared for class. There would be sometimes that I would come to class and not have the reading read. I feel like I worked on 5a., 7a., and I really tried to get 12c. I want to continue to develop more of goals, but I will start to focus on how I can implement the others in the last half of the second semester.
3c. Applies ethical concepts to a question and considers their full implications. (20%)
This can be connected to our focus group question. We thought about the surrounding area of STL and how it would be affected if our goal was to take place. The focus group went well overall, and we had many different perfect responses from the workers.
5a. Defines the scope of research questions effectively and selects information cogently to address them. (20%)
I feel like I hit this goal very hard this semester. We were put into groups and came up with interview questions to ask a freshman on campus. I made it easy on myself and interviewed my roommate, so it just felt like a normal conversation.
7a. Explores a topic in depth, yielding a rich awareness and/or little-known information indicating intense interest in the subject. (20%)
Our survey that my group had conducted is a very good example of this goal that I was able to work on. I currently don’t have the link to link to this, but I will add when I do get the link. UPDATE: Our survey did not do as well as we thought it would so I this goal can be combined and stretched with the goal underneath. Since we kind of had no idea what we were going to be asking or learning about the focus group opened up our questions and brought light to it.
10c. Uses quantitative information to support arguments and draw logical conclusions. (20%)
We recently had done focus groups with MOBOT and asked the questions we needed to ask for our certain subgroup. The document attached shows the transcript of the entire focus group meetings.
12c. Works independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines. (20%)
I feel like I can just speak about this goal. I know that I didn’t get everything turned in right on time but there were only a few assignments that were turned in passed the due date. I tried to work to get my goals done, however I seemed to focus on only two. UPDATE: I have gotten better at making sure I finish things on time and turn them in, however some of my assignments I had forgotten about and have just now caught up with them.
