I am from Robinson, Illinois, but I am now currently living in a town 10 minutes away called Flat Rock. A fun fact about my hometown is that it is where the Heath bar was made! Although my town is reffered to as “boring” by most of the people that live in it, I somewhat agree with them because there is almost nothing to do for fun. It is either go to Walmart, or go to a friend’s house.
During my time at SIUE, I would like to get involved with different communities and clubs. Currently, I am not involved in much besides InterVarsity, which is a Christian group that I stumbled upon when getting my textbooks for the semester. I would like to major in Computer Engineering because I like to mess around with computers. This major seemed to match up the most with my interests. I intend to graduate in 2027, but if I need to stay longer to achieve what I want, I will definitley do that.
During my free time when I am not studying, I like to entertain myself by playing video games. I also like to hang out with friends in our social lounge and watch movies.
A very big obstacle that I overcame was a moment in high school during remote lerning. I had taken a test just a little bit before, and I was tired because my sleep schedule was messed up. Going from being in school to being at home and being able to do what I want was a very big change. Anyway, when I was done with the test, I decided I was going to lay down for a moment and rest. I had another test coming up just a short time after the first one. I fell asleep and slept through the test. I was terrified and mad at myself. Ever since then, I realize that grades are the effort that I put in, one slip up and I could go down a letter grade. That’s what ended up happening in the class, I failed the test and went down a letter grade. I’ve been doing better and better with doing homework and doing it right and on time. That one event really shaped me into how I wanted to do work and get it done.
