First off, thank you for checking out my page! I am originally from Robinson, Illinois, but I now live 10 minutes away in Flat Rock. A fun fact about Robinson, IL, is that it is where the Heath bar was made! Although its a small town, and theres not a ton to do, growing up in a quiet place gave me time to become curious about things, which is why I was drawn to computers
I am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at SIUE, set to graduate in 2027. I chose this major because I enjoy building things and figuring out different ways to solve problems. This could vary from creating a system, or improving an existing one. My curisosity has carried into my projects and coursework, where I have enjoyed building systems and learning how good design principles make software easier to maintain.
Outside of the classroom, I got involved with InterVarsity, a Christian community I found while picking up textbooks during my first semester. It was a good eperience, but I had to step back as coursework was picking up faster than I expected. I am hoping to find the right balance going forward, and possibly get more involved with communities that match my coursework.
During my free time when I am not studying, I like to entertain myself by playing video games. I also like to connect with my rommates and watch shows. I am also a proud Community Oriented Digital Engagement Scholar!
One experience that shaped how I approach work happened in high school, during remote learning. I fell asleep between two tests after not sleeping well the night before. I missed out on one test entirely, and it cost me a letter grade. It was a hard lesson, but it taught me that consistency and following though is important. Since then, I have made an effort to deliver work on time, and this is also carried over into the project aspect of things.
