Welcome to my ePortfolio, my name is Morgan Lee, and I am a first-year student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I am excited to begin my college journey and challenge myself academically and personally. I chose SIUE because I wanted to continue my education in an environment where I can grow, meet new people, and prepare myself for my future career.
My career goal is to become a nurse anesthetist. I have always been interested in healthcare and in helping people feel cared for and understood. I want my future career to be more than just a job. I want to be someone who can make people feel comfortable, especially during some of the most stressful moments of their lives. I also hope to eventually use my career to help people in communities where healthcare may not always be easily accessible or affordable.
During my time at SIUE, I plan to focus on my academics while also getting involved in my campus and community. I am working on building strong study habits and improving my communication skills. I am also working on networking and extending my social comforts to develop relationships with people who have different experiences and perspectives. I am also looking forward to the opportunities CODES will give me to work with my classmates and community partners and connect what I learn in college to real-world issues.
Outside of school, I like to do a lot. I love going on mini side quests and have fun with my friends. I have participated in sports including cheerleading, track and field, and cross country. I also enjoy giving back to my community through volunteering and service opportunities. One thing about me is that I LOVE to eat! food is more than surviving for me… it’s genuinely personal!! I like eating chocolate and meeting new people. I also love to LAUGH! While i am able to be serious, when necessary, I like being the one to lighten the mood and keep everyone included.
My journey to college has not always been easy. I have experienced challenges that have pushed me to become more resilient and confident in myself. Some of those experiences have taught me the importance of empathy and of making people feel heard and valued. They have also helped shape the kind of person I want to become.
As I begin this new chapter at SIUE, my goal is not only to earn my degree but to become a stronger, more compassionate, and well-rounded person. I know that my plans may change as I learn and grow, but I want to continue challenging myself while learning from my experiences that its okay to learn in unfortunate circumstances and just overall working towards a career in nursing where I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
