First-Week Introduction
For this course, I am working toward a B because I want to stay focused on my college and career preparation while also learning how to manage my responsibilities as a college student. After looking over the syllabus, I chose five goals that I think will help me develop skills I can use in college and in my future career. My five goals are oral communication, written communication, skills for lifelong learning, information literacy, and collaboration.
I chose these goals because I want to become more confident when communicating with other people, improve my professional writing, learn how to find opportunities outside of the classroom, and become better at working with others. The assignments that will help show my development include my resume, elevator pitch, professional letters, networking activities, ePortfolio, mentor activities, and presentation work.
The assignment I am most excited about is creating my ePortfolio because it will give me a place to organize my accomplishments and show the skills I have developed. I am also interested in the networking and mentor activities because they can help me learn more about career opportunities. The assignment that seems most challenging to me is the mock interview because interviews can be stressful, and I want to become more comfortable talking about myself and my experiences.
To be successful in this course, I plan to keep track of my assignments and deadlines, stay organized, and use feedback to improve my work. I also want to participate in class activities and take advantage of opportunities that can help me prepare for my future. My goal is to finish this course with career materials and skills that I can continue using throughout college.

Course Goals

Goal 1 (20%)
When presenting my oral and textual content, I will implement organizational techniques, like chunking, to ensure my ideas are clear and cohesive
