I have multiple biggest takeaways from our project as a whole that I have learned and strengthened along the way. I realized how interconnected environmental issues are with the real world. Our project regarding water conservation isn’t just about water; it is about the environment and the community. This made me think more comprehensively about wicked problems. Each part in a problem or situation has multiple factors or parts to it, whether they are clearly noticeable or hidden behind other factors. If one factor is touched, then it can have a domino effect on the other factors as well. This is why it is extremely crucial to consider all factors when working towards finding a number of solutions for a problem. CODES has given me a new perspective and mindset

Another thing I have learned is public speaking. I used to be very shy and introverted before all of these presentations and practice we did in CODES classes. This skill I have learned and am still practicing, is a skill I will forever value and is crucial for my career. CODES has given me the outline for many new skills I will use in my future workplace in the hospital, in interviews, and when talking to patients and their families.

CODES has given me countless opportunities and new skills helped me grow not just academically, but also in how I think about problem-solving, communication, and my role in making a difference.
