Work and Leadership

Starting my own Pastry Business
At 16, I asked a neighbor if she needed help cleaning her backyard. I used the money I earned to buy ingredients for my first batch of pastries. By 17, it had become an important source of income and helped me fund my move to the US.

Fundraised $10,000 For SIUE
As an SIUE Foundation ambassador, I made 300–400 calls a day to alumni, parents, faculty, and other. I started with no fundraising experience and was making those calls in English, my second language.

Promoted to Supervisor for SIUE Foundation
I’ve trained and coached 100 callers, helping them communicate campaign messages, handle objections, and grow more confident on calls. I support the team through performance tracking, quality reviews, and coaching.

Helped build a new role from the ground up
I helped define the role, build its workflows, and establish measures for tracking progress. I manage pledge follow-up, create outreach videos and monitor campaign results, looking for response patterns that can help improve outreach.

VP of The Lifting Club for Women at SIUE
I help build a supportive community where women can encourage one another, grow more confident in the gym, and embrace every stage of their fitness journey. I believe fitness can create positive change beyond physical progress, and I’m proud to help foster a space where women feel motivated and invest in their well-being.

Became a Spanish Lab Assistant at SIUE
Becoming a Spanish Lab Assistant has given me the opportunity to support students as they practice Spanish and build confidence using the language. As a native Spanish speaker and fluent English speaker, I enjoy helping create a welcoming learning environment where students can ask questions and strengthen their skills.
Education and research

Earned a competitive, full-tuition CODES scholarship
Receiving this scholarship made my dream of pursuing higher education a reality. Through SIUE’s Community-Oriented Digital Engagement Scholars program, I’ve connected research, data, digital storytelling, and community partnerships, and seen how what I learn in school can make a difference beyond the classroom.

4x Dean’s List Student
The Dean’s List is an academic honor recognizing students for strong performance during a semester. I earned this recognition in Spring 2024, Spring 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026. To me it reflects the consistency and effort I’ve brought to my education while balancing coursework, work, and campus involvement.

Completed a data-driven Research Capstone
This project served as the culminating experience for my Political Science major, bringing together the research and analytical skills I developed throughout my studies. I analyzed Mexican Latinobarómetro survey data from 2018–2024 to study factors related to partisan preferences and voter behavior, using SQL, Excel, and multivariate regression.

Brought research to the public through a Permanent Exhibit
Through CODES and a partnership with the Missouri Botanical Garden, I contributed to The History of Our Soil, a project that became a permanent public exhibition. The work involved archival research, collaboration with project partners, and making complex histories accessible to visitors.
