First-Week Introduction

The reason I chose my 5 goals is I want to be able to go into any situation with an understanding mindset towards someone’s lifestyle and be able to listen to why or how they live their lives. I need to be more studious and work to educate myself outside of the classroom wether that be on my own or in a group I want to learn how to make my classwork easier to understand without just following what the teachers provide. Another goal is to create different scenarios and solutions in order to discover what will give the best outcome. Additionally, I have a goal to provide help on group projects by working some things out on my own and then consulting my ideas with the group. My last goal is to make sure when I’m speaking it’s not just to my understanding, but my writing and speaking is comprehensible by the audience reading or listening to it.

Midterm Introduction

I have learned about analyzing writing rhetorically and reading like a writer. I really enjoy our Scavenger hunt with our groups, I was able to learn while also doing something fun with my peers. I think my struggles now are trying to edit my Digital Project #3, and figuring out how to produce a video with quality visuals and not just me talking. I feel I have definitely learned a lot outside of the classroom from taking the information I learn in class and applying it to the outside world. I want to continue to develop how I come up with different solutions and making sure I provide the best ones. I don’t think my writing has reached it’s potential in the sense of writing for others to understand instead of just myself. I will make asking peers or my suitemates to read over my writing in order to provide writing that helps others understand me.

Final Introduction

[Now that the semester is over, use your introduction to reflect in-depth on your process. How well did you meet the goals you set out to meet? What did you learn that surprised you? Focusing on your goals for this class, what do you want to remember to take with you into your future courses? What strategies can you use to continue developing toward these goals?]

Course Goals

Choose five goals from the CODES Student Learning Outcomes that you’d like to work toward. Choose goals that are relevant to the scope of this course, select artifacts/examples based on activities assigned for this course, and explain characteristics in a way that illustrates how your artifacts/examples demonstrate your progress toward the goal.

Goal 1: 6C (10%)
Keep an open mind when talking or being surrounded by someone of a different culture or community.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
I will listen to others from a different culture and understand that their beliefs can be vastly different from mine. I will also ask questions about their culture and what might be different from my own culture.Pictures of me being involved with someone from a different community and what I learned from them.

Conversations had with someone from a different cultural background.
Taking pictures at culture events or engaging with someone from a different culture or group.

[For each 5% of effort you assign to your goal, provide at at least one example or artifact that demonstrates your learning process and shows how your made progress toward meeting that goal this semester (You would need four examples if the goal was worth 20% of your grade). Show how you have improved over time, what methods you took to grow, and talk about what you still plan to do in the future.]

Goal 2: 7B (30%)
Go out and learn gain deeper understandings outside of the classroom.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
Studying outside of class and making sure to put in my own research and time to better understand different things. Websites and readings that help gain deeper understandings for projects.

Annotations from class readings.

Pictures from DP #1.

Pictures of studying with a peer or group.

Research on other websites.

Reviewing others Eportfolios for ideas and better understandings.
The pictures and notes taken during my examples will help demonstrate I have met goals.
