Introduction

I think I was able to reach most of my goals, I do wish I was able to show that I was able to show that I reached my last goal. I learned that procrastination happens all the time and some individuals tend to struggle because of it. I enjoyed having such a close group of individuals to go to ask for help. In my opinion I struggled with eating, not like starving myself but more of not having time to get food. I always was able to get lunch and dinner, but breakfast is said to be the most important and I seem to have no time to get that in. I think that I excelled in making sure that I was on time to my classes and there every day. I did have some days that I physically couldn’t make it to class but that was because of sickness. I want to continue developing all of my goals and hopefully show that I can master goals that I set for myself.

Goal 1 (15%)

“Accesses information using effective, well-designed search strategies and appropriate sources.” 

Lovejoy Library | SIUE

I linked the Lovejoy Library to this goal because I used it on a few assignments in Dr. Despain’s class. This allowed me to not have to worry about a certain article having false information. In high school I would only use the first article that would pop up, but in this first semester I took my time because I knew that every article was reliable.

Goal 2 (35%)

“Pursues knowledge and educational experience beyond the classroom.” 

I implemented my most recent video because I did all of the filming in my dorm room where I was being unbothered by other individuals. I did most of the editing in the athletic study room because I didn’t want to stay in my dorm for a long period of time because it would sidetrack me. I pushed me to get out of my comfort zone because I would usually have tried to do everything in class which would lead to a below par video.

I wanted to add this floor plan that my dad had sent me so that I could look at and study. This has no correlation to my construction class I just wanted to expand my knowledge.

Goal 3 (25%)

“Develops clear, innovative central messages with significant supporting materials.” 

This is my reflection #4 that gives information about the highway systems and how it is segregating communities. Dr. Despain said that my thesis statement was getting strong I just needed to add a few more things. Another piece of evidence showing that I have met my goal is, my first source analysis for my research team.

I added this because it allows me to see how I first started an essay. There were no paragraphs, no thesis, no evidence, no conclusion. This was almost just a thought that I had in my head and being able to compare the analysis to the reflection #4 shows great improvement.

Goal 4 (10%)

“Evaluates texts’ scholarly significance to apply reading to other contexts or issues.” 

I wanted to add my MC #1 from my research team because I did a very good job at connecting our wicked problem to how the Sustainable World book presented the wicked problems. This helped me work on my goal because I was able to read a very good source that was full of information and apply it to my real-world class. I want to do this for Dr. Despain’s class with a better ability to connect with what’s happening in class and what the source is talking about.

Goal 5 (15%)

“Uses appropriate, relevant, and compelling content to illustrate mastery of the subject, conveying the writer’s understanding, and shaping the whole work.” 

I added my research over the photo album. I wanted to add this because it shows that I was able to look at the group of pictures and express the way I feel about them. In my essay I was able to show that I understood what was happening in the photos.

Introduction

I think this second semester I met my goals. This semester taught me so much more than what I knew in the first semester. I was able to write essays a little bit better while allowing them to still give the correct information. I still haven’t learned how to use my time correctly; procrastination is a real thing and I know that I suffer from it. It has led me to become very overwhelmed with work and struggling to get everything done. I want to make sure to try and accomplish my goals even when we are not in session for class.

Goal 1 (15%)

Digital Project 3 allowed me to find information about the BLM topic that my group had chosen. In a doc that I made I was able to put my 250-word passages and the pictures that I used for the project into one space. I got my information from the STL Post Dispatch that gave very good information about the certain subtopic that I was researching. 

Goal 2 (35%)

“Pursues knowledge and educational experience beyond the classroom.” 

I chose to put my first group presentation because my group did it after class was over. I was able to take pictures of the campus.

The second piece of evidence that I chose was the last project we did again. I wanted to add this because my group met up before and after class to work on the project to make sure that we got it completed.

Goal 3 (25%)

“Develops clear, innovative central messages with significant supporting materials.” 

This first piece of evidence that I wanted to add was Reflection #11. I wanted to add this because it shows what exactly we were supposed to be writing about in the first paragraph.

Another piece of evidence that I wanted to add was my story map google doc, our group was able to show what exactly we were going to speak about and show to our peers. It shows that we are focusing on BLM and some sub-researching’s.

Goal 4 (10%)

“Evaluates texts’ scholarly significance to apply reading to other contexts or issues.” 

I want to add my google doc that I used to summarize what each article wrote about during our last project. It shows that I was able to read the articles from the STL Post Dispatch and was able to express them in the way I read and understood them.

Goal 5 (15%)

“Uses appropriate, relevant, and compelling content to illustrate mastery of the subject, conveying the writer’s understanding, and shaping the whole work.” 

This goal I think that I mastered because in our last project I was able to add images and textual information to help teach our class about the BLM movements that are impacting the STL area.
